Lupin's got to much on his mind at the moment to take notice. For example his fate.

he just tolerates their bullying because they're his friends (a pathetic excuse, to me). In the book, when Sirius and James notice Snape, Lupin just furrows at them, but never even tries to stop them

I don't get what makes snape so likeable. He was just as big a bully as james, A bitter bastard incapable of separating the dead from the living, He was a death eater who didn't regret a damn thing till he figured out that he put his unrequited crush in danger.

His few acts of kindness do not make up for being a disgusting individual unworthy of being called human for all through the books and his back story.

he became a Death Eater, but after having come back good he acted as a bully towards Harry, he was unfair:
1) Harry was lazy and broke rules, alright
2) but he wasn't spoiled nor a puffed up guy as Malfoy ane many ones thought
3) Harry wasn't a bully, and had no faults for James's horrible behaviour
4) Snape never punished Slytherins for bullying, or, at leaast, books show this

What about bullying?
1) James, sirius and Lupin stopped
2) their victim snape became a Death Eater
3) but Minus too, who was a bully, didn't change in better

This doesn't mean that I don't dislike the Marauders for being bullies, some victims of bullying kill themselves for being ashamed. The things James and Sirius did at the O.W.L.S. just for being bored, they're altready disgusting, so that I don't know what to think about snape calliong lily a Mudblood. And what about Sirius leading snape under the Whomping Willow when Lupin was transforming? Snape could die

Are you agreeing with me? Cause yeah I would say James and Remus turned out to be the better men(we don't see enough of Sirius to make a good call on that.) Plus there's no way Lily and Snape stopped being friends over him just calling her a horrible name. There's more to that story that we haven't been told yet. Severus Snape was already looking for Lupin to oust him as a werewolf possibly kill him and get a little glory. Sirius was a jack ass for what he did, but Snape was a fool for listening.

they stopped being friends because Snape calling her a Mudblood was a sign of the company he had, we read it in 7th book just later

yes Snape was a fool and rash man for not listening Black (he thought that Black was the responsible of the Potter's death, and at 16 years old Snape risked to be killed by Lupin and Black, this is could justify Snape in that moment). But Snape actually was an unfair and rude teacher towards all the non-Slytherins students (not only towards Harry), I don't know if as a temper that had been caused by the bullying he sudffered, or if to pretend he was still supporting Voldermort and the Slytherins (especially the Death Eaters' children)
Later (from Harry's 3rd year to the following ones) Sirius is still rude against Snape, and Lupin and Dumbledore don't do a lot to make them be calmer and reason: Lupin just tells Snape "you're wrong and risk to pass as an idiot", Dumbledore just forces Snape and Black to be allies because of the war and stop arguing for the past life at school (stop arguing, NOT make the things clear and explain things to each other!). Lupin and Dumbledore don't make Snape and Lupin make peace in a complete way
Maybe it wasn't the Marauders' fault if Snape lost Lily's friendship and became a Death Eater, but the awful prank of the Whomping Willow and Wormtail's deception seem to be enough to give Snape some prejudices agains Sirius and Lupin (the last one was actually innocent because hadn't called Snape), because bad habits hardly die, and nobody but Lupin, Harry, Ron and Hermione had listened the truth from Sirius in the 3rd book. Besides, the books don't tell us if after 3rd book anyone (Dumbledore, Lupin's memories...) could give Snape the proof that Sirius was innocent and Wormtail the real culprit of James' and Lily's death

I imagine Dumbledore had to frequently remind Snape of the fact it was Wormtail that sold out Lily not Sirius. Snape didn't give two shits about James or Harry. again you seem to be agreeing with me while adding on people who are guilty of at least indifference..

about indifference, yes, I agree, it's awful. And about this, I could call indifference Dumbledore's and Snape's silence too towards Harry about the propehcy until 5th book: if Harry had known the matter of the prophecy would practise Occlumency better and wouldn't fall in Voldemort's trap.
Anyway the prophecy could well have both Harry and Neville as a matter, and the two boys were never informed before Sirius' death, what would you do if a friends wouldn't tell you a dangerous thing that could be concern of you?
I agree about Snape not thinking about the cruelty and consequences of his actions until Lily was in danger. I don't know if this was for James too (maybe hating a person because he/she's a bully it's a matter, wanting him/her dead is another one)
I still don't know if Snape's partiality as a teacher was a consequence of his past (bullied, so he gets revenge being a "bully" or tolerating bullying for Slytherins? actually Malfoy and other ones bully non-Slyterin students, but in a hidden, not when Snape or other teachers can see and punish them) or of hating James (for having mistreated Sanpe? for having married Lily?). Is this that "give two shits mean"? "punish/accuse someone for another one's bad behaviour"? surely Snape tells Hary a lot that the boy's arrogant because of his fame, but this is a prejudice that Harry never managed to destroy
I sometimes thought that Snape's partiality as a teacher (towards Harry too) was a fake, not to make the Death Eaters and their children think he had abandoned Voldemort and worked for Dumbledore now

Not giving two shits is an American saying for not caring to a large degree. I genuinely think Snape was in everything for Snape. He's the anti hero. He works toward a common good but only because it serves him well. As to why Snape is just a generally bad teacher and favors slytherin so much I think he genuinely hates children... and only puts up with the Death Eater children because he needs to stay in their good graces to make sure he has that option open should the worst come to pass.

ah well working for a common good would be a good punition if good reward means protecting Harry who could kill Voldemort. Snape killed, tortured, took away many lives, on the contrary the punition becomes saving many lives from Voldemort. A retaliation: in this case I could say it seves him well. About the Death Eaters children, I could agree in thinking it was to avoid risks with their parents; about hating children I don't know

Apparently Lilly stands up for him, and she didn't like James very much after that, until Snape called her a mudblood and he regretted it when Lily married James

because Snape became a Death Eater and James "grew better": mah, James continue to bully Snape until 7th year, if I were Dumbledore I would kick the Marauders out of Hogwarts the day of O.W.L.s.
Sirius and Lupin justified themselves in 5th book telling that they were 15 years old (puah, this is not an excuse, because nobody I knew at 15 years old was a bully), that  James was wonderful eve and grew better, and that Snape was an idiot following Dark arts: if they despised Snape for this apart for "he existed" they could tell Snape, instad of bullying hin they coulkd tell him "be careful because many of the Slytherins' beliefs, including the hate for non-Purebloood and Drak arts, will make an evil magician of you"

eh well but bullying is always a bad thing, and Sirius' "prank" in the Whomping Willow could cost even Snape's life and therefore it could become even a a crime, not simple bullying! Not to mention that Sirius had awfully taken advantage of a friend in that case, a thing for which I would be ashamed if I had done it

And to me, maybe it's not the Marauders' fault if Snape became a Death Eater, but if he liked Dark Arts and followed Slytherins and their blind hate towards Muggles ,it is the Marauders' fault too: if you read the first meeting between  Snape, Lily and the Marauders on Hogwarts Express, we see that the Marauders too had bad prejudices:
SNAPE: I like knowledge, I want to use brain and therefore hope to be a Slytherin

SIRIUS All my relatives were Slytherins, they hate Muggles, I hope I would never be in their House

JAMESI could die if I was a Slytherin, I hope I'll eb a Gryffindor

SNAPE Do you prefer musc les to brain

JAMES Always better than Slytherins, Snivellus

The Maraufders' bullying didsn't do but make Snape think that really all Gryffindors were some idiot arrogannt bullies without a brain, and that Slytherins were the good people becusse they used the brain, and that knowing Dark Arts would neve harm anyone. A prejudice that maybe Snape kept as a teaccher too? Anyway, instead of bullying Snape as aeifor being ng him a Slytherin, Marauders should have treated him better and inform him as I had imagined above "be careful of Slytherins' opinions... etc". Sirius especially hated his family's "racism" against Muggles,  and their idea of being better than other people:  but bullying students, Sirius was not better than his Slytherins relatives

The Marauders' ideas about Slytherins gave them no right to bully Snape and so many other schoolmatessnt schoolmates, but  Snape's horrible experience anyway gave him no right to harass Harry " because he's an arrogant brat like his father" he sould have been less partial and,, as Dumbledore said, "Sop seein in Harry only what Snape wanted to see": maybe Harry was "arrogant", lazy and didn't respect rules, but was not a bully  (Draco Malfoy and Dudley Dursley and their respectibve freindsa are more similar to Marauders than Harry was!)
